A Message from Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright

“On August 6th, 2024, I humbly ask for your vote for Sheriff of Barry County.”

“My life has been dedicated to law enforcement and making a positive impact in my community.

I promise to serve and protect the Citizens of Barry County to the absolute best of my ability. This is our home, where we raise our families, work, play, and enjoy all of the blessings that God has given to us.”

Dedication and Experience.

Mark Noteboom has been a servant of the community spanning three decades. A native of Barry County (Nashville), Mark was born and raised here, attending both St. Rose of Lima and Maple Valley Schools, spending his time in 4H and local FFA, as well as helping the local farmers in his free time. After college, his law enforcement career first led him to South Carolina where he began working in the State prison systems as well as low country county jails. After that, he was hired by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office where he had the opportunity to learn, teach, and lead. Mark was a Field Training Officer for over ten years, a guest instructor at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and held certifications across multiple disciplines including Advanced Criminal Enforcement, National Gang School, Federal Clandestine Methamphetamine Lab School, South Carolina Interstate Interdiction, and many others. In addition, Mark was utilized by the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division in undercover operations/vice; Warrant Division serving in extradition and fugitive recovery; extensively in traffic enforcement and directed patrol; as well as the Investigations Division where he had the unique ability to train in and investigate arson crimes.

In 2019, Mark married his wife Carrie and they decided to call Michigan home again. With the support of family and community, Mark worked his way back to the Barry County Sheriff’s Office to once again be a servant of his own community. An avid outdoorsman, Mark maintains memberships with the NWTF, NRA, Pheasants Forever, Quail Forever, and Ducks Unlimited. Volunteering at the Alpha Women’s and Family Center of Barry County, and the Charlotte Teen Center, Mark and Carrie are truly able to spend their time in the lives of those around them for the better. As members of Barry County Right To Life, Mark is a staunch defender of life and protecting the innocent, and standing up for what is right, despite what may be popular. In their faith, as attendees of Thornapple Valley Church in Hastings, Mark and Carrie find the strength and hope which continues to guide them to serve others and work for a better community.

This is our home.

“My passion is for this county and making it a safe place for all. I can’t do it alone, but with your help and the help of dedicated individuals, I know that we can.”

“Mark was my partner for close to ten years. His integrity, commitment, and experience were unmatched. Now, proud to call him my friend and brother, you won’t find a better Sheriff for Barry County.”
